1. What digital platforms are students currently using to develop their professional network?

The network platform is developing rapidly, and the platform resources currently provided to students are also very extensive.

For example, Sina Weibo, Facebook, Twitter, these social platforms are very popular social software in the world. On the platform, there are many relevant people in different industries or students with different education backgrounds who will share their experience or new research in their professional fields. It can also help students find professional advice on the platform and improve their chances of finding a job.

On the other hand, Instagram, TikTok. Many people will share photos on these platforms, which is convenient for showing their hobbies and professional fields. So this kind of social platform is built through pictures and videos.

As long as we use social platforms reasonably and make more use of the benefits that social platforms bring us, there are many different social platforms that can help students conduct further research on their professional fields and obtain more network resources through the Internet.

2. What could the student consider in expanding their professional learning network?

• Attend academic seminars. There are many famous mentors or celebrities in the industry who often hold online academic seminars. Students can break the distance limit and the limit of the number of people to participate in academic seminars. It not only helps students understand the situation in the industry they are interested in, but also helps students create deeper research in academics.

• Join an online internship program. Many well-known companies will open online internship programs on the Internet, which can effectively carry out remote office work and accumulate work experience for themselves. And you can learn more knowledge outside your own professional field.

• Find a tutor online. Students can seek help from many professionals on the Internet. Make an effort to find an experienced tutor who can provide students with professional advice and plans for the future.

3. How does data privacy and security limit and/or promote a PLN?

• Limit—Personal information is easily leaked. In the process of using PLN, students need to input a lot of personal information, that is, there is a hidden danger of personal privacy leakage. If you communicate with strangers with bad habits, there will be hidden dangers of identity theft and data leakage.

• Promote—Students can obtain more learning resources in the process of establishing PLN. The establishment of PLN can share one’s own experience and research with others, and more people can gather together and learn together. PLN can give students motivation to learn and promote students’ cooperation ability.

4. In your network, how can you create a digital identity/ reputation?

In normal times, I will use the Internet to publish some valuable content. I will publish some posts related to my professional field of personal insights, views and experiences. Many people with more qualifications than me will come to give me better advice. And people who are new to the industry will come to me for more help. And I will also actively participate in many social activities on the Internet, which will allow me to meet more creators who share the same hobbies as me.

5. Consider how an employer would respond if you applied for a job with them, and they assessed your social media presence via your digital identity.

Personally, I consider my digital media persona to be that of a traveling adventurer. I will share many places I have been to on social media, and post my own experience, and provide suggestions for travel routes to others. When employers see my digital identity, they should be surprised by the travel tips I put together.
